Miami Travel Guide

Miami dazzles you with its glamour quotient: sun kissed beaches, semi nude models and fashionistas but its notoriety as the state with the highest murder rate in the US is what raises eyebrows. A fusion city in true sense of the term, Miami is a veritable melting pot of cultures, cuisines, ethnicities, languages and spirit. Located in the southernmost tip of the USA, Miami has scorching summers, so the best time to visit is winter.

The state has two airports: Miami International Airport (MIA) and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL). The former is better connected and one of the busiest. Amtrak and Greyhound connect Miami to other points nationwide. Luxury airport transfers is provided by fineĀ  miami limousine service providers.

Though it is known for its beaches, Miami has a lot of art, architecture and subtle landscapes on offer for the discerning tourist. Its cuisine can range from the high brow, to the mediocre so there is something for every budget and palate. You can choose from the sinful Latin American and Caribbean cuisines with generous helpings.

Events in Miami start with the nine days long Carnaval Miami in March involving a Miss Carnaval contest, concerts at the Orange Bowl, skating contests, a Latin drag show along with a Calle Ocho cooking contest are held. The Calle Ocho Festival ends the Carnaval Miami. The International Hispanic Theater Festival in June lists theatre companies from the world over at the El Carrusel Theater. The Annual Miami Reggae Festival in August and the Miami Book Fair in November attract the seriously bookish types.
