Miami dazzles you with its glamour quotient: sun kissed beaches, semi nude models and fashionistas but its notoriety as the state with the highest murder rate in the US is what raises eyebrows. A fusion city in true sense of the term, Miami is a veritable melting pot of cultures, cuisines, ethnicities, languages and spirit. The state has two airports: Miami International Airport (MIA) and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL). The former is better connected and one of the busiest. The Calle Ocho Festival ends the Carnaval Miami. The International Hispanic Theater Festival in June lists theatre companies from the world over at the El Carrusel Theater. The Annual Miami Reggae Festival in August and the Miami Book Fair in November attract the seriously bookish types.
