Orlando Land

Orlando best known for Disneyland is ranked the fourth in terms of tourist destinations in the US. Supposed to have been ‘built on the peel of an orange’, it is today a software and technology destination as well. Given its temperate climate, Orlando has visitors throughout the year. Summers can be scorching but the period before Thanksgiving and up till Christmas may be a good time to visit.

Getting to Orlando is easy given good bus connections from all the major cities in Florida. Economically it makes sense to take the train given the bus station is far from town. Amtrak runs between Orlando and Miami, and the Orlando International Airport is frequented by all major charters and discount airlines.

In addition to Disneyland you can visit Holy Land; Gatorland and Skull Kingdom.
The city has a number of local art galleries and national parks. Apart from eateries feeding children’s’ imaginations, there are ethnic restaurants catering to different palates. Activities here include Hiking around Wekiwa Springs State Park, Ocala National Forest, or the Cruickshank Trail, Cycling at Wekiwa Springs State Park, Canoeing along the Mosquito Lagoon and Swimming at Alexander Springs, and Lake Dorr.

Orlando’s festivals range around some traditional activities like gardening, rodeo and golf. The Silver Spurs Rodeo in February and July, the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival at Disneyland, the Buick Scramble with amateur golfers at Walt Disney World Resort, the Funai Classic for pros, Gay Day at Disney in June are among the popular fests.
