Phoenix Tour

Phoenix perhaps gets its name from the mythological phoenix which rose from the ashes. Located the state of Arizona, Phoenix is all about scorching heat, sweat and desert.
It is the state capital and throbbing on the economic front and the arts and theatre scene but the biggest draw is the wilderness and the desert. Summers are hot and thunderstorms at noon along with flash flooding incidences are common. December to April is cool with minimal rains.

The Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) logs a number of domestic and international carriers. Additionally Phoenix is well connected by the Amtrak trains, the Greyhound bus systems and limousine service proviers.

Among the sights to see are the Arizona Science Center housing 350 hands-on exhibits, the Desert Botanical Garden, the Heard Museum, Phoenix Museum of History, and the Taliesin West.

The calendar months between October and May are choc a bloc with events though summer is a period of great lethargy and inactivity. One of the biggest draws is the Fiesta Bowl college football game on New Year’s Day which is also a day when the biggest parades come on display. January sees a number of equestrian events and rodeos, and an All-Arabian Horse Show. The Guild Indian Fair and Market is hosted by The Heard Museum in March and makes available Native American cuisine to the discerning tourist. The Phoenix Rodeo of Rodeos is held at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The Yaqui Indian Easter Ceremonies and the Arizona State Fair in October complete the set.
