Miami, move over. Tampa is here. This southern state of Florida, houses Ybor City, heart of the old cigar industry. Weather wise Tampa sees high humidity levels and plenty of rain though December to May is the most pleasant time of year.

Tampa International Airport and the St Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport are the two main aerodromes here. British Airways, Air Canada, Lufthansa, and domestic airlines: Delta, United, America West and Continental touch down at these airports. The interstate bus, Amtrak lines and Tampa Bay limousine services offer viable options of travel within Florida and Tampa.

Festivities here are kick started by the Gasparilla in January lasting seven days, dedicated to the legendary pirate ship Jose Gasparilla’s arrival. The annual blues festival in April brings big names to the bay.

Among the tourist attractions are the Busch Gardens and African themed park giving Walt Disney World a run for its money when it comes to big budget amusement spending.
Florida Aquarium replete with a limestone cave, mangroves and resident turtles attracts hordes. The Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI) is famous for its flight avionics simulator.
Tampa Theatre built in 1926 is a must see with its star-spangled ceiling, statues from mythology and a very large, ear-shaking Wurlitzer.

Eateries here cater to the wallet heavy and the budget conscious alike. Bern’s Steak House serves some of the best steaks. Columbia Restaurant around since 1905 reeks of history with the Flamenco guaranteed to set the mood for the evening. Tampa is the place to be.
